OBJECTIVES
Objectives & Outcomes
Increased levels of self-efficacy
Self-efficacy is one’s belief in one’s ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task. Individuals with high levels of self-efficacy view challenging problems as a tasks to be mastered & develop stronger interests in the learning.
Longer Memory Retention
By engaging multiple sensory and intelligence, the individual will be able to retain the information and learnt concepts for a longer period.
Intrinsic Motivation & Interests
SEAL IT learning competency model enhances the intrinsic motivation and interests in learning. Individuals become less resistant to coming for classes & attempting to learn complex materials.
Lower levels of test anxiety
A vast majority of Singapore students feel anxious despite being prepared for a test. High levels of test anxiety have difficulty concentrating which results in lower performance during examinations.
Development of a Growth Mindset
In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.
DIFFERENCE
How does Learning Competency differ from learning styles?
Lack of Empirical Evidence
Not effective
Numerous studies have shown that there is no empirical evidence that accommodating the learning styles of the individual improves learning or better academic performance.
Oversimplification of initial research
can be detrimental
Each category is schematic – a deliberate oversimplification in order to highlight important features. However, the initial research has been hijacked for commercial purposes. Dependent on their preferred learning styles impair individuals’ potential to apply or adapt themselves to different ways of learning.
Learning Competency Model
Evidence-based practice
Our learning competency model is a evidence-based practice that encourages the individual to adopt deep approaches to learning. Research shows that this enables numerous long-term benefits beyond academic performance.
TESTIMONIALS
What Our Students Say

I especially like how the lessons are very engaging. Mr. Wong frequently challenge us to think of various situations and to apply the physics concepts we learnt to those situations. We also had opportunities to conduct cool experiments – like building a mini electromagnetic generator!
